Interested in learning to play chess Already a chess expert but looking for new opportunities to play? Come to the Wallingford Grange, first Saturdays of each month to play or learn. Bring your set or use ours! Hot beverages are also available for free! First meeting of the Chess Nerds will be Saturday, January 4, from 9 am to 11 am. In addition to chess nerds on the first Saturday of each month that starts on January 4th, the Wallingford Grange will also be hosting a monthly guys’ coffee talk from 8am- 10am. This is a great social event for the men out there to get together, relax, and have a hot beverage. Hot beverages are free!

Our “Maker Monday” gathering returns in 2025. Join us on Monday, January 6th, at 6:30pm, and Monday, January 20th, at 6:30pm at the Wallingford Grange Hall where you can do the craft of your choice and stay for the socialization, or we can teach you how to piece a quilt. These gatherings are open to all! You don’t have to be a grange member or a quilter to join. Quilts of Valor Program offers comforting quilts to veterans of all wars. The program is continuing to work towards making more finished quilts for now and in the future. The lecturer’s program for the meeting will focus on the topic of emergency winter resources by a guest speaker from CMC Energy Services. At this meeting, we will also discuss upcoming events and goals for 2025. We will also have our monthly country store raffle. All are welcome to attend this meeting.

In conjunction with the January Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, January 11th at 8:30am-11am, the Wallingford Grange will also have a craft workshop available FREE for kids of all ages, crocheting Granny Squares! This is a great opportunity for kids to make one and either give to a relative or keep for themselves if they choose.

Tickets for adults are $6 and for youth 12 and under are $3. A pancake breakfast comes with pancakes and sausage to eat and hot coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or juice to drink. Pancake flavors include Cinnabon (specialty flavor for January), chocolate chip, and buttermilk. Bring friends! Or make friends - the big center table is open to anyone who doesn't want to sit alone. Also, we have a craft workshop available FREE for kids of all ages, on how to crochet a granny square! Same time, same place (more details above).

On Sunday, January 12th at 2pm-3pm, there will be a reiki sound bath meditation class at the Wallingford Grange. This is a great way to start the new year off right with deep relaxation and healing for your mind, body and spirit. Join Toni McGovern, Yoga and Sound Healing Instructor, and Barbara Stainton, RN and Reiki Master, for a transformative journey of wellness. The class is $20 per person. Happening every second Wednesday of the month from 4 PM to 5 PM (with a special January date on the 15th), this lively hour offers a safe, welcoming space for little ones to run, play, and make new friends.
